About this Course

This course is designed within the Bachelor of Arts framework to give students an understanding of the biological, social, and cultural factors which influence how humans think, feel, and behave. Students at JCU Singapore can combine psychology subjects with others from business, information technology, or other social science areas.

Upon adequate performance in specified core subjects, students can apply to transfer to the Bachelor of Psychology program. Completion of the four-year Bachelor of Psychology or its equivalent is the first step in undertaking studies to complete a Master of Psychology (Clinical) or Doctor of Psychology (Clinical). Course Structure

3 trimesters per year (normally 4 subjects per trimester)

Subject Requirement

24 subjects at Levels 1 - 3 successfully completed to earn 72 credits. Academic advice on which subjects to take is available during the admissions process and at the end of every term.

2 subjects selected from the Master Schedule of Subjects*, which can include:

Entry Requirements

Entry requirements differs from country to country, but in general, applicants must have satisfactorily completed 12 years of schooling or equivalent.

Successful completion of the JCU Singapore Foundation Program will also satisfy the entry requirement.

English Requirements

  • IELTS 6.0 (no component lower than 5.5)/TOEFL iBT 79 (with minimum writing score of 19) and above; or
  • Satisfactory completion of JCU Singapore English Language Preparatory Program (ELPP).
  • Students who have successfully completed 2 years of full-time study in English medium may satisfy the English Language Requirement

Advanced Standing

Credit exemption may be granted for students with tertiary qualifications from recognized institutions on a case-by-case basis.

Attendance Requirements

International students holding a valid student’s passes are required to attend at least 90% of scheduled classes per month. Failure to attend classes is a breach of the student visa conditions. Being absent from classes for a continuous period of seven days or more, or attendance falling below 90% without valid reasons will result in the student needing to surrender their Student pass for cancellation.

Domestic students must attend at least 75% of the scheduled lecture and tutorial activities to be eligible for assessment.

Career Outcome

Graduates of a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) can pursue a diverse range of careers in government and human services organisations, business corporations, and the health sector where psychology and arts qualifications are valuable in, for example, media, market research, advertising, public relations and human resources.
