Course Description

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is an approach in counselling, psychotherapy and social work that aims to help clients to generate solutions. Its ideas have also been used in clinical supervision, coaching, education and management. It is an approach that is client-centred, strength-based, goal-focused, contextual and usually brief. 

 

Course Objectives

- To engage couples into solution-building work

- To apply SF questions in conjoint sessions

- To use specific tools in SF couple work 


Course Contents

- Assessment of couple's readiness for shared vision of solutions

- Use of relationship as the basis for solution-building

- Engagement of the 'involuntary' party

- Handling of couples' conflicts and intense emotions

- Use of Genogram in SF work with couples

- Use of Couple's Resource Map in pre-marital counselling 


Who Should Attend

All counsellors, healthcare workers, social workers, psychologists, teachers and principals, pastoral staff, and people involved in the helping profession. 


Award

Participants who successfully complete any of the stand-alone modules will be awarded a Certificate of Accomplishment for each module they took.

Participants who successfully complete the full certificate with assessment will be awarded a Graduate Diploma in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. In addition, the participants will also receive certification from CCPC granting them the designation of Certified Solution-Focused Practitioner (CSFP) if documentation submission requirements to CCPC are fulfilled.
