Duration: 8 hours, including 2 hours of assessment

Assessment: 0.5 hour for MCQ written test and 1.5 hours for practical assessment.

Entry Requirements

  • Employability Skills System (ESS) included Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 3 and above or equivalent
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Physically fit with no handicap
  • Participants are required to bring along their own safety shoes and safety helmet.

Course Outline

  • Selecting appropriate MEWP, including risk assessment for the task to be carried out
  • Safety requirements under the WSH Act and the Code of Practice for Working Safely At Height related to MEWP
  • Conduct workplace inspection
  • Carry out pre-start inspection
  • State factors affecting stability
  • Identify common hazards of the MEWPs and their appropriate control measures
  • Function of all MEWP controls, including emergency controls and emergency procedures
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment appropriate to the task, worksite and environment
  • Operate the MEWP Safely through hands-on evaluation and test assessment
