• Prescribe and explain induction heat treatment and selected area hardening by laser heat treatment • Prescribe and explain the principles for pre/post welding heat treatment process recipe for steels • Explain the purpose and value of cryogenic treatment and Sintering, furnace brazing and shot peening • Describe and explain the principles for vacuum heat treatment including process control and the attained properties of components • Describe and explain the principles for vacuum carburizing including state-of the art- Pre-Nit-Carburizing. • Describe and prescribe the heat treatment processes performed for Titanium and Nickel-based alloys for controlled properties • Understand and explain the relation between distortion after heat treatment, component dimension and geometry, steel type, quenching method, and load configuration. • Understand pros and cons with selection of different furnaces and heat treatment equipment • Understand the principle, application and limitation of finite element method on the heat treatment process simulation.
