About this Course
With Information Technology now revolutionising the way we live and do business, there is an increasing demand for high quality graduates that can bridge the gap between business and information technology. Graduates skilled with a mix of marketing, management, internet, multimedia, computing, networking, software technologies and business operation skills can introduce methods and systems within organisations to enhance productivity and improve efficiencies.
Business Informatics is a specialist area of IT that combines information technology, management and business. It encompasses everything from utilising Information Technology, to making informed decisions in business, or to large scale data warehousing.
Students can study subjects from a wide range of areas, such as web/mobile technologies, consumer and market integration technologies, database and information systems integration, knowledge management platforms, data mining, market analysis, e-business, business processes, decision support systems, human computer interaction, networking and other business areas.
The University provides a well-equipped environment, including several state-of-the-art laboratories with specialist facilities for multimedia design and networking. In addition there are small group tutorials and hands on practical sessions in the laboratories.
Our Master of Information Technology program is fully accredited by the Australian Computer Society at the 'Professional Level' (its highest level).

Entry Requirements
Successful completion of study equivalent to an Australian undergraduate bachelor award.
English Requirements
- IELTS 6.0 (no component lower than 6.0)/TOEFL iBT 79 (with minimum writing score of 19) and above; or
- Satisfactory completion of JCU Singapore English Language Preparatory Program (ELPP).
- Students who have successfully completed 2 years of full-time study in English medium may satisfy the English Language Requirement
Advanced Standing
Advanced Standing from 4 of the Foundation subjects can be considered for:
- Applicants with a minimum 4 years full-time equivalent professional work experience in information and communication sector.
- Applicants with undergraduate degree from cognate discipline such as IT Cognate disciplines: Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or other disciplines where students will have completed study relating to information and communication technologies.
Advanced standing can also be considered for:
- Applicants with a four-year relevant undergraduate program
- Previous tertiary study where appropriate
Attendance Requirements
International students holding a valid student’s passes are required to attend at least 90% of scheduled classes per month. Failure to attend classes is a breach of the student visa conditions. Being absent from classes for a continuous period of seven days or more, or attendance falling below 90% without valid reasons will result in the student needing to surrender their Student pass for cancellation.
Domestic students must attend at least 75% of the scheduled lecture and tutorial activities to be eligible for assessment.

Companies are always in need of staff who can analyze quantitative problems and then identify and implement solutions, whatever the economic conditions. Likely roles include: consultant, data mining specialists, risk managers at financial institutions.
Professional Recognition
As an IT student you are entitled to membership with two professional bodies: The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Singapore Computer Society (SCS).
