About this Course

Advanced Urology Nursing (45 hrs) This module provides the in-depth study of the causes, risk factors, pathophysiology, complications and current trends of management of individuals with acute and chronic urological conditions; common congenital urological conditions. This module NU11 also aims to provide the in-depth study of cancers of the urinary tract and their current management. Advanced care planning and end of life issues will be covered in greater details. It also includes the causes, pathophysiology and current trends in the management of sexual dysfunction and its relevance to the care of individuals with urological disorders. Relevant urology practical skills are incorporated in a timely manner to enhance integration of learning and appropriate applications. Advanced Nephrology Nursing (120 hrs) The module provides an in-depth study of the causes, risk factors, pathophysiology, complications and current trends in the management of individuals with acute, chronic and end stage renal failure (ESRF). Students will explore the various modalities of renal replacement therapies. Advanced care planning and end of life issues will be covered in greater details. The application of current clinical practice guidelines and quality assurance tools will be explored too. Relevant nephrology practical skills are incorporated in a timely manner to enhance integration of learning and appropriate applications.
