Post-Diploma Certificate 1: Foundations in Health Promotion (135hrs) Concepts & Theories in Health Promotion (60hrs) This module examines the core principles and concepts in health promotion. Students will explore the determinants of health, behavioral change theories and health promotion strategies. It also covers principles of social marketing, healthy settings, health literacy and building of partnerships. This module offers students the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills to apply principles of health promotion to plan, implement and evaluate health promotion programs. Lifestyle & Diseases (45hrs) This module serves to highlight the intricate relationships between diseases and lifestyles. Students will be introduced to the prevalence, pathophysiology and impact of common lifestyle diseases. It also covers stress-related disorders and the effects of aging such as dementia. All Rights Reserved. 2Essentials of Nutrition Science (30hrs) This module aims to provide students with a basic understanding of nutritional science and the importance of nutritional balance in promoting health and well-being. Students will learn dietary sources and biological functions of major nutrients, nutrient requirement in the different stages of growth and how to read food labels. Impact of these nutrients on health and well-being will also be covered. They will perform critical reviews on literature regarding nutrition education and the role of nutrition in health promotion, and in the process, they will acquire the skills to identify and critique health promotion programs in nutrition at various settings like schools, workplaces, communities, hospitals/ clinics, and homes.
