About this Course

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is a 1230 hours competence based Programme. It emphasizes heavily on skill and application technique. Upon completion, students will have a good understanding of aesthetic, creative, and technical factors involved in the design and development of animation work, the web, video & sound editing, multimedia applications and electronic presentations.

This course is proposed to divide into 3 stages, focusing on different aspects which incorporate classroom instructor, practical and submission of assignments in order to let the participants learn more effectively. You must achieve at least 80% of attendance.

MODULE STRUCTURE/SYNOPSIS

Visual Communication in Art and Design

This unit aims to develop the necessary skills for artists, designers and craft workers to communicate their ideas across specialist applications, both traditional and alternative

Ideas Generation and Development in Art and Design

Creative thinking and the ability to generate free flowing ideas are vital skills for all artists and designers. This unit aims to develop skills in generating and communicating ideas visually.

Contextual and Cultural Referencing in Art and Design

The aim of this unit is to encourage an understanding of the social, psychological, cultural, historical and commercial factors which underpin all visual arts theory and practice across the spectrum of subject specialisms.

Professional Practice in Art and Design

The aim of this unit is to extend learners’ knowledge of professional practices within their specialist area and to relate these to personal goals and career opportunities.

Project Design, Implementation and Evaluation

To develop learners’ skills of independent enquiry by undertaking a sustained investigation of direct relevance to their vocational, academic and professional development.

Communication with Images in Art and Design

The aim of this unit is to extend learners’ understanding of the potential of visual imagery as a means of communication, including the codes used in different cultures.

Interactive Media Design and Prototyping

This unit will enable learners to develop skills and understanding in designing and evaluating a prototype interactive media system using an interactive approach.

Interactive Media Web Authoring

This unit aims to develop learners’ skills in producing web pages containing effective interactive media content.

Animation Techniques for Interactivity in Art and Design

This unit aims to develop learners’ skills and understanding in a variety of interactive animation techniques for use in art and design.

Interactive Media Presentation

The unit will enable learners to further develop knowledge, understanding and skill in the planning and production of interactive media presentations.

3D Computer Modelling and Animation

This unit aims to develop learners’ skills and understanding of the principles and practical applications of 3D modeling and animation.

Computer Interface Design Principles

This unit aims to develop learners’ skills and understanding through investigation of the design elements of user interfaces for interactive systems.

Sound Production and Editing Using Interactive Media

This unit highlights the importance of the sound component in interactive media and enables learners to use digital sound recording, editing and processing.

Website Creation and Management

This unit aims to develop learners’ skills and understanding to successfully create and manage web-based applications.

Digital Video Post-production and Editing

This unit aims to develop learners’ skills in planning, preparing and presenting digital production for the moving image.

Digital Media in Art and Design

The aim of this unit is to develop learners’ understanding of the scope and potential of digital media in art and design, coupled with the application of skills in and detailed knowledge of software applications in a specialist pathway.

Digital Image Creation and Development

This unit aims to develop skills and understanding in sourcing, creating, developing and managing digital images for specific purposes.

DELIVERY METHOD

All practical lessons will be conducted in the computer laboratory of AEC campus. Lecturers, on top of teaching the module, will share with the students their wealth of industry experience

ENTRY REQUIREMENT

Minimum Age Requirement

Applicants must be 18 years and above

Academic Entry Requirements

  • AEC Diploma or any other recognised diploma, or
  • 2 GCE A-Level passes, or
  • 3 GCE O-Level passes, or
  • 4 GCE N-Level passes, or
  • Higher NITEC Qualification, or
  • BTEC Level 4 Qualification, or equivalent

English Language Requirement

  • Pass in English at GCE N/O-Level, or
  • IELTS 5.5, or
  • Pass in AEC Level 4 English Proficiency Test, or equivalent

ASSESSMENT & GRADING

This programme will be assessed through a combination of attendance and module assignments. The credits will be based on project assignment on every individual module.

GRADUATION CRITERIA

For a student to successfully graduate from this course, the student must achieve at least a pass in all module assignments. This will allow the student to obtain at least 240 credits from this course.

PROGRESSION PATHWAY

Graduates of this program are eligible for top-up multimedia programs offered by several British universities and their partners all over the world.
