Nitec in Technology - Mechatronics (Part-Time)

  

About this Course

This course provides students with multi-disciplinary skills and knowledge to install, set up, operate, maintain and service industrial automated production equipment and systems.

Course Structure

Module

Pneumatics

  • On completion of the module, students should be able to install, maintain and troubleshoot pneumatics, and electro-pneumatic systems.
Electrical Installation

  • On completion of the module, students should be able to carry out installation and test of electrical trunking, and conduct system wiring of a machine control.

Electronics

  • On completion of the module, students should be able to check and test industrial electronic components and simple electronic circuits using common test instruments; and construct prototype electronic project on printed board. 

Drives and Motor Controls

  • On completion of the module, students should be able to install, maintain, troubleshoot and modify AC and DC motor control circuits.

Automation and Basic Robotics

  • On completion of the module, students should be able to program a robot to carry out specific operations and maintain an automated control system.

PLC and Sensors Technology

  • On completion of the module, students should be able to carry out installations, operations and troubleshooting of programmable logic controller & sensors systems in an automated system.

Credit for Certification

Total of 36 credits from successful completion of 6 modules.

Entry Requirements

  • Completed GCE 'O' Level; or
  • Completed GCE 'N' Level; or
  • Passed ISC/CoC in Autonomous Maintenance; or
  • Passed ISC in Electrical Servicing; or
  • WDA's Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 in Speaking and Listening and Level 4 in Reading and Numeracy.
  • Applicant must be free from colour appreciation deficiency.

Note:

1) The training schedule of lessons is subject to change.

2) Depending on demand, not all the modules in the CET Nitec in Technology courses will be offered in each intake. Where the modules are offered and there is insufficient enrolment, the classes will be cancelled and a full refund will be given to the affected students.

Training Schedule

Evening classes – Lessons are held two evenings a week, from 1845 hours to 2145 hours.

Weekend classes – Lessons are held once a week, from 0900 hours to 1600 hours.
