Nitec in Technology - Electronics (Instrumentation) (Part-Time)

  

About this Course

This course provides students with the skills and knowledge to install, maintain and troubleshoot a range of electronic test and measuring instruments used for accurate measurements.  Students will also learn how to maintain and calibrate the Test Instruments and Process Control Instruments for better measurements.

Course Structure

Module

Electronic Principles and Measurements

  • On completion of the module, students should be able to apply the basic principles of electronics to connect and test electrical circuits. They should also be able to construct prototype electronic project on printed board.

Digital Electronics

  • On completion of the module, students should be able to design, build and test basic digital circuits. They should also be able to construct prototype digital electronic projects.

Analogue Electronics

  • On completion of the module, students should be able to interpret, construct, test and troubleshoot analogue electronic circuits. They should also be able to construct prototype analogue electronic projects.

Test Instruments 

  • On completion of the module, students should be able to test and calibrate electronics test instruments and measure signals using electronics test instruments and PC based instruments. Students are also trained to test transducers using electronics test instruments and interface programmable instruments to computer.

Computer Control & Process Measurements 

  • On completion of the module, students should be able to calibrate, configure, maintain and troubleshoot process measurements and control systems and components such as field devices, transducers, sensors, controllers, recorders and control valves which are commonly used in pharmaceutical, food, oil & gas and other process industries.

Credit for Certification

Total of 35 credits from successful completion of 5 modules.

Entry Requirements

  • Any 2 GCE 'O' Level Grades (Grade 1-8) in any two subjects; or
  • 3 GCE 'N' Level Passes (Grade A-D or Grade 1-5) in Mathematics or Science and two other subjects; or
  • Passed ISC/CoC in Electronics Manufacturing; or
  • Passed ISC/CoC in Wafer Fabrication.
  • WDA's Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 in Speaking and Listening and Level 4 in Reading and Numeracy.
  • Applicant must be free from colour appreciation deficiency.

Note:

1) The training schedule of lessons is subject to change.

2) Depending on demand, not all the modules in the CET Nitec in Technology courses will be offered in each intake. Where the modules are offered and there is insufficient enrolment, the classes will be cancelled and a full refund will be given to the affected students.

Training Schedule

Evening classes – Lessons are held two evenings a week, from 1845 hours to 2145 hours.

Weekend classes – Lessons are held once a week, from 0900 hours to 1600 hours.
