About this Course

This course is endorsed by ITE and catered to participants with the necessary skills in basic face treatments, make-up applications, manicure & pedicure treatment, aesthetic therapy, massage therapy and spa treatments and are interested in joining the beauty industry as a beautician.

Course Outline

The Nitec in Services – Beauty & Wellness course comprises 6 core modules:

Basic Facial Treatments

• Students are trained to provide basic facial treatment and perform head, neck, decollete and shoulder massage.
  

Make-Up Applications

• Students are trained to provide different types of make-up including cosmetic camouflage make-up.

Manicure & Pedicure Treatment

• Students are trained to provide manicure, pedicure, hand and foot massage and paraffin hand and foot treatment.

Aesthetic Therapy

• Students are trained to provide advance facial treatments, provide high frequency treatment, shape eyebrows and provide waxing for facial and body hair removal.
  

Massage Therapy

• Students are trained to perform Swedish massage and Hot Stone Massage.
  

Spa Treatments

• Students are trained to provide body scrub, mask and wrap treatment, thermal treatments and hydrotherapy bath treatments with vichy shower.
  

Training Hours

Classroom Duration – 700 Hours

Duration of Course

Full-Time – 9 Month x 5 Days Per Week x 4 Hours Per Day

Course Commencement Date

Courses will commence on every 1st and 15th of every month

Certificate Conferring Body

Upon completion of the course, students will be awarded the NITEC in Services – Beauty & Wellness Certificate by Institute of Technical Education (ITE).

Graduates progression pathway is subject to the respective Institutions’ entry requirements at the point of application.

Foreigner’s application for jobs in Singapore is subject to the approval from the Ministry of Manpower of Singapore (MOM). MDI DOES NOT GUARANTEE any success rate of approval.

Entry Requirements

Local course participants must possess any one of the following entry requirements in order to be eligible for Nitec Examinations.

1. Complete GCE ‘N’ level or any equivalent qualifications approved by ITE.
   
2. Entry Test by ITE (Test fees are paid to ITE). Applies to course participants that do not have the above qualifications.
   

Other than the mentioned pre-requisites, the students should also have the following:

• Students must be able to read and write in English or Chinese. Other cases will be considered on a case-to-case basis.
  
• Students should be of a minimum of 18 years of age to be eligible for the courses.
  
• For foreign students, relevant passes are required.
  

Graduation Requirement

Students are required to meet the following criteria in order to graduate and obtain their relevant certificates:

1. The award of full certification in Nitec in Services – Beauty & Wellness is based on acquiring a minimum of 32 credits.
   
2. For the overall practical assessments, they must cover at least 75% of the competencies in each module.
   
3. The pass mark of a module is 50%. Candidates are required to pass all critical criteria/skills in the skills standard.
