About this Course

Have you wondered how laser has the power to cut through steel?

Apply for this course and you will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to perform laser cutting to produce precision parts for aircraft, automotive, medical devices, etc. You can be a specialist in creating computer numerical control (CNC) programmes for laser cutting, punching and bending to develop and manufacture precision components.

Acquire knowledge and skills which are highly relevant to the industry

  • Create CNC part program for CNC laser machining, turret punching and bending using CAD/CAM system.
  • Set up and operate machine for CNC laser machining, turret punching and bending.     
  • Manufacture semi-con components (sheet metal).
  • Develop stamping tools design using CAD/CAM system.
  • Assemble stamping tools.
  • Perform stamping tools setting and testing.
  • Perform quality checks.
  • Perform preventive maintenance.

Progression Opportunities

Nitec in Laser & Tooling Technology graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 and above may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics. 

Nitec in Laser & Tooling Technology graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 and above may apply for progression to the Technical Engineer Diploma in Machine Technology course conducted by ITE in collaboration with Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS), Baden-Württemberg, Germany. 

Nitec in Laser & Tooling Technology graduates with a GPA of 2.3 and above may also apply for progression to related Higher Nitec courses offered by ITE.
