About this Course

Have you ever wondered how Toy Story and Disney animations are created? If you want to create your very own animation, then this is the course for you!

You will learn to perform tasks in 2D Animation such as storyboarding, character design, layout, background design, digital ink & paint and traditional animation techniques. In 3D Animation you will perform tasks such as modeling, rigging, character animation, lighting and texturing.  You will also learn to perform post-production tasks like video editing, compositing and visual effects.

Acquire knowledge and skills which are highly relevant to the industry

Support team in research and planning.

Progression Opportunities

Nitec in Digital Animation graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 and above may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics. 

Nitec in Digital Animation graduates with a GPA of 2.3 and above may also apply for progression to related Higher Nitec courses offered by ITE.

Nitec in Digital Animation graduates are employed in various creative fields in animation studios, advertising firms, entertainment design studios, Production houses, Post-production houses and games companies.  Some of the job titles held by graduates include Concept Artists, Character Designers, Storyboard Artists, Layout Artists, Background Artists, 2D Animators, 3D Modellers, Character Animators, Special Effects Artists, Effects Technical Directors, Lighting Technical Directors, Games Artists and Texture Artists.

There are excellent opportunities for career advancement to animator positions and beyond. This challenge is for students to upgrade their technical skills and knowledge by taking up higher-level courses.

Entry Requirements

To apply for the Nitec in Digital Animation course, you need to have:

Completed GCE 'N' or GCE 'O' Level

Note: Applicants applying for this course must ensure that they do not have colour-appreciation deficiency and shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview and pass a drawing test for admission.
