About this Course

The MSc Engineering Management programme as offered the same at the home campus of Northumbria University, is specifically designed to allow students to update, extend and deepen their knowledge, to enhance their career opportunities in industry, or as a preparation for further academic research.  The programme allows the students to optimise the learning experience and effort to suit their academic background and career aspiration.

The programme aims to:

  • Produce graduates who can apply fundamental principles and techniques to produce creative solutions
  • Evaluate theoretical frameworks and models and select appropriate techniques and tools for analysis of complex systems
  • Develop a critical awareness and evaluation of current issues in the selected subject discipline in order to foster the ability to produce new insights and propose new solutions
  • Competently evaluate and apply a range of research techniques using both primary and secondary sources to successfully undertake a research or investigative project in an appropriate subject discipline
  • Enhance the academic, personal and professional development of all students and foster their abilities to be self-evaluative, reflective practitioners and life-long learners
  • Develop the application of professional and ethical principles, standards and practices in the selected subject discipline

  • MSc Engineering Project (CORE, 60 Credits)
  • Engineering Research and Project Management (CORE, 20 Credits)
  • Product Design and Development (CORE, 20 Credits)
  • Engineering Management Data Analysis (CORE, 20 Credits)
  • Technology Entrepreneurship (CORE, 20 Credits)

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be of age 21 and above and meet at least one of the following requirements:

  • A recognised Second Class Honours Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a subject related to Engineering with demonstrated proficiency in English equivalent to at least a C6 pass at the GCE ‘O’ Level

All decisions regarding acceptance of candidates to the course will be made by Northumbria University.

Applicants who do not meet the English language requirements stated above are required to:

  • Achieve a minimum band of 6.5 and above in IELTS (International English Language Testing System) conducted by the British Council

OR

  • Score a minimum of 65% for MDIS Professional Certificate in English (PCIE) at Advanced Level

Candidates who completed the first degree from a recognised institution (where programmes are taught in English) are normally regarded as demonstrating the required English proficiency.
