Programme Module Synopsis :

Principles of Management

This unit covers the Principles and Functions of Management. Students are taught the key elements in planning and decision-making and significance of different controls required in an organisation. Students will be able to appreciate the significance of different controls required in organisations, and develop an understanding in the process of organising the resources of the firm.

Principles of Accounting

This unit provides students with the basic principles of accounting and their application. Preparation of Trading and Profit & Loss Accounts, Balance Sheets and Cash Flow Reports for sole traders and limited liability companies will be covered. The characteristics of cost behavior will also be examined in this unit.

Marketing

This unit examines the role and value of marketing in today's increasingly competitive and dynamic environment. The management of the market function will be defined in diverse marketing situations. Marketing principles are covered to analyze, plan, implement and control policies designed to achieve marketing and corporate objectives in both profit and policies designed to achieve marketing and corporate objectives in both profitand non-profit organizations

Principles of Quantitative Methods

Rules of numeracy are covered in this unit. It provides some of the basic mathematical data used in graphical form. Students will also be taught to present and analyze simple business data.

Computer and Information Processing

This module describes the characteristics of computer hardware and explains their functions. Students will learn to appreciate the social and economic implications of the use of various ranges of computer systems, identify the different types of computer networks and data communication standards. Various data structures, file organization and limitations of the physical media which data are stored will be introduced. Upon completion of the module, students will also be able to explain the types of software and computer languages used in current computer systems, describe the functions of an operating system and the facilities offered to a programmer, describe the features of common data processing systems, as well as describe the operations, development and control activities within a typical data processing department.

Introduction to Java

This module introduces simple object-oriented techniques using Java. The module covers building of Java applications and Java applets using JDK. 

Essential of Networking and Network Security

This module will equip students with basic network administration, network security, authentication, network attacks, firewall, DMZ and VPN. Students will also learn to understand the need for networking and recognize the importance of security in networking environment.

Project Web PUB and HTML

This module is a project-based module that allows students full creativity in creating a website using HTML, Javascript and Java Applets. Students will learn to create built-in forms, handle web events and Javascript objects and applets.

Full-time 10 months / Part-time 14 months

Delivery Mode

Each lesson is 3 hours and is conducted in a classroom setting at Informatics Campus.
