The International Advanced Diploma in Network and Computer Security is developed to train students to administer local and wide area network, enforce security policies and procedure in software development as well as network infrastructure design and monitoring. A key area of focus is on web application security. The Advanced Diploma in Network and Computer Security provides students with strong academic knowledge and skills with the aim of a pursue of a network administration / network security specialist.

Programme Module Synopsis :

Application and Infrastructure Security

This module focuses on application security, digital security and network security. It includes discussion of various methods a host could be compromised from flawed programs or network design in the context of today’s business environment.

Security in System Development

This module introduces the essentials of secure software in accordance with the most current industry standards. It leads students through the tasks and activities that successful computer programmers navigate on a daily basis, from reading and analyzing requirements to choosing development tools, to guarding against software vulnerabilities and attacks. The module also covers coding with built-in quality and security measures, and follow-up testing once a project is completed.

System Intrusion and Computer Forensic

This module introduces to students the foundation of system intrusion and computer forensic investigation, looking into the processes and tools used by hackers and computer forensic and investigation professionals.

Software Engineering

This unit will cover the principles of software engineering, software life cycle, formal methods and software quality assurance techniques.

Computer Architecture and Data Communication

This unit gives an overview of computer hardware data communication and networking technology.

Information Management

This unit provides student with a blend of both information systems management concepts as well as data centre management concepts.

Networks and the Internet

The goal of this introductory course is to help students cope with the revolution by providing a conceptual understanding of standard technologies used today in networking for computer communications. This course is structured along the lines of the four layers Arpanet communication architecture: Application, Transport, Network and Physical.

Discrete Mathematics

This module develops the mathematics needed to underpin the computing modules.

Full-time 10 months / Part-time 14 months

Delivery Mode

Each lesson is 3 hours and is conducted in a classroom setting at Informatics Campus.
