This course equips you with the skills and knowledge to carry out technical support functions in mechanical engineering design, production, quality assurance, material control and maintenance of automated machines and equipment.

Progression Opportunities

Higher Nitec in Mechanical Engineering graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 and above may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics. 

Higher Nitec in Mechanical Engineering graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 and above may apply for progression to the Technical Engineer Diploma in Machine Technology course or Technical Engineer Diploma in Automotive Engineering course conducted by ITE in collaboration with Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS), Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Higher Nitec in Mechanical Engineering graduates are employed by mechanical engineering and precision engineering firms and companies that provide engineering services from front-end engineering design, systems development to maintenance of mechanical equipment and instruments.  Some of the job titles held by graduates include Engineering Assistant, Mechanical Engineering Technician, Maintenance Supervisor, Quality Assurance Technician and Quality Process Technician.

GCE 'O' level grades in English Language, Mathematics and 1 approved subject
