STRUCTURE AND CONTENT

The diploma programme consists of 8 subjects and may be completed in 8 months.

  • Introduction to Computer Science
  • Introduction to Data Communications
  • Introduction to Multimedia & the Internet
  • Computational Mathematics and Computer Architecture
  • Fundamentals of Computer Systems
  • Introduction to Database Design and Development
  • Principles of Information Systems and Data Management
  • Introduction to Programming using Java

DELIVERY AND ASSESSMENT METHODS

Delivery Method

The curriculum is taught over 4 terms of 8 weeks with each term covering 2 units. Each unit of this part-time programme will comprise of 32 contact hours. Classes are usually held twice weekly, on 2 weeknights from 6:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.

Assessment Methods

Each unit is assessed by any combination of class participation, written assignments, project or examinations. Assessment methods may vary according to individual unit requirements.

GRADUATION AND DEGREE

Students who successfully complete the programme will be awarded with the Kaplan Higher Education Institute Diploma in Information Technology. Diploma graduates can then move on to pursue bachelor degree programmes with one of our prestigious partner universities in Singapore.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • GCE 'A' Levels or equivalent qualifications
  • GCE 'O' Levels, Higher NITEC, or equivalent qualifications*
  • GCE 'N' Levels, Lower NITEC, or equivalent qualifications*

*Terms & conditions apply. Mature executives who do not possess the above-mentioned qualifications but with substantial working experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
