About this Course
Certificate in Power Electronics & Drives Module Synopsis Electrical Circuit Analysis * This module introduces students to the concepts and theorems which are needed in the field of electrical engineering technology. The topics include circuit analysis and network theorems, single-phase and three-phase system analysis, power measurement and power factor correction, the a operator and per unit system, harmonics, and transients. The module provides the foundation to equip students in analysing electrical circuits, applying the relevant theories and techniques to solve and troubleshoot circuit problems, and designing electrical systems. Electrical Machinery This module aims to provide participants with the basic concepts and working principles of common type of electrical machines and drives used in the industries. The module will cover the construction, working principles, performance characteristics, speed control and industrial applications of transformers, motors and generators. Power Electronics & Applications This module aims to provide participants with broad-based understanding and hands-on practical experience on power electronics converters and some of their applications. Participants get to learn the principles of operation and waveform analysis of power converters, including speed control of AC / DC motors, found in motor drives of MRT trains, escalators, electric cars and ship propulsion in the industries, as well as in applications like light dimmers, instant water heaters, blenders and many others.
