About this Course
Certificate in Control Systems Module Synopsis Practical Electronics with Application to Control Systems This module is highly practical oriented with approximately 80% of the time devoted to hands-on activities. It covers the analysis, design and assembly of an electronic feedback control system. The module enables students to apply control theory in the real world. They design and build analogue electronic Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller, electronic sensor module, DC Motor driver and many more. Computer is used to simulate analogue electronic circuits and circuit testing is performed using experimental approach. Measured data obtained using equipment such as DC Power Supply, Oscilloscope, Digital Meter and Signal Generator are recorded, plotted and interpreted. Analog Electronics & Applications This module aims to provide students with knowledge of the operating principles and the design characteristics of commonly used analogue devices and circuits. It also illustrates their applications in various practical circuits. Control System Formulation & Analysis This module introduces students to the fundamentals of feedback control principles. It covers basic concepts of automatic control, control systems hardware, simple analytical tools and stability analysis of systems. An introduction to the use of MATLAB as a computer tool for control system design is also included.
