About this Course

This course is endorsed by ITE and provides students with the skills and knowledge to provide basic facial treatment and perform head, neck , decollete and shoulder massage.

Course Outline

The basic facial treatments (modular course) comprise of the following:

Sterilisation, Disinfection and Maintenance

  • Students are trained to understand the importance of hygiene in preventing cross-infection and the different types of infection, the steps in handling and storing sterile instruments and equipment, the importance and procedures for setting up equipment and facilities and maintaining them in good working condition.

Anatomy & Physiology of the Skin and Face

  • Students are trained to understand the anatomy and physiology of the skin, the characteristic of different skin types and the conditions and threats to the skin and the anatomy and physiology of the face, head, neck and shoulder.

Facial Treatment and Perform Massage on Face, Head, Decollete and Shoulder Area

  • Students are trained to identify the contraindications, the benefits of preparing the skin for facial treatment and the ways to handle adverse reaction to facial treatment, prepare skin for facial treatment, perform massage on face, neck, decollete and shoulder massage and ways to handle adverse reaction to massage and application of facial mask and finishing touches.

24 Days (Mon – Fri, 10am – 4pm or 4pm – 10pm)

Course Commencement Date

Courses will commence on every 1st and 15th of every month.

Certificate Conferring Body

Upon completion of the course, students will be awarded the NITEC in Services Module Certificate by Institute of Technical Education (ITE).

Graduates progression pathway is subject to the respective Institutions’ entry requirements at the point of application.

Foreigner’s application for jobs in Singapore is subject to the approval from the Ministry of Manpower of Singapore (MOM). MDI DOES NOT GUARANTEE any success rate of approval.

Entry Requirements

Local course participants must possess any one of the following entry requirements in order to be eligible for Nitec Examinations.

  1. Complete GCE ‘N’ level or any equivalent qualifications approved by ITE.
  2. Entry Test by ITE (Test fees are paid to ITE). Applies to course participants that do not have the above qualifications.

Other than the mentioned pre-requisites, the students should also have the following:

  • Students must be able to read and write in English or Chinese. Other cases will be considered on a case-to-case basis.
  • Students should be of a minimum of 18 years of age to be eligible for the courses.
  • For foreign students, relevant passes are required.

Graduation Requirement

Students are required to meet the following criteria in order to graduate and obtain their relevant certificates:

  • For each module, the score obtained from end-of-module assessment contributes to the final score.
  • For the overall practical assessments, they must cover at least 75% of the competencies in each module.
  • The pass mark of a module is 50%. Candidates are also required to pass all critical skills/criteria in the Skills Standard.
