About this Course
Objectives
The BSc (Hons) Computer Security programme is designed to provide a broad, general education in the theory and practice of engineering and computing technologies with special emphasis in the area of computer security and network systems.
The programme is the same as that offered at the home campus in the UK and aims to
- design systems for the resolution and management of computer security problems
- manage computer and information security activities
- design countermeasures to enhance systems security
- analyse current and emergent computer security technologies
- understand the legal, social, ethical and professional responsibilities when undertaking ethical hacking operations
Programme Structure
Course Duration
MDIS Advanced Diploma in Information Technology students will start at Year 2 of a 3-year degree programme in the UK. Graduates from the Polytechnics holding relevant Diplomas will also qualify to start at Year 2.
To be awarded the BSc (Hons) Computer Security, students are required to complete 10 modules and an individual project for a total of 240 credits. Exemption modules may be allowed during the matriculation process and is at the discretion of Northumbria University.
Therefore the minimum period of candidature will be:
a) 16 months for Full-time programme
b) 20 months for Part-time programme
Upon completion, students will be awarded the Bachelor of Science (Hons) Computer Security by Northumbria University, UK.
