About this Course

Our Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Building Surveying course is designed to provide practicing professionals in Singapore with enhanced technical knowledge and understanding in order to progress in their careers, balancing this with the ability to think critically, reason, analyse, research and evaluate, the skills associated with higher education. Thus, the BSc programme provides both the life skills and technical knowledge necessary to further pursue a professional career within the realm of Building Surveying.

Gain the all-important professional and technical skills associated with building surveying, presentation, communication and collaboration, which are important for conducting business. You also get to learn relevant skills in construction technology, building pathology, property management as well as landlord and tenant law. No matter what kind of property field work you are involved in, you will be trained to handle the different aspects of each area. Building surveyors get to advantage from enhanced employment opportunities, even during scarce times, as their skillsets are required to manage properties, and design and manage upcoming projects. Thus, being a professional in the building surveying industry will make you an indispensable member of the construction and property industry. You will be a part of the development, management, conservation, refurbishment as well as maintenance of different kinds of real estate.

Programme structure and requirements, levels, modules, credits and awards :

The BSc (Hons) programme is available on a full-time and part-time study basis. Students may,

in certain circumstances, move between full and part-time modes of attendance. The course is

divided into study units called modules, and these are either double (30 credits) or single (15

credits). Students complete 120 credits at each of Level 4, Level 5 and Level 6. Each 15 credit

module represents 150 hours of student learning and assessment. Students follow a scheme of

compulsory study with a choice of Honours Research Project (options, and choice of topic).

DURATION

Part time : 15 months - Twice a week (3 hours per day)

Weekdays : 7pm to 10pm (36 hours per module)

ENTRY REQUIREMENT(S) :

• GSTM Specialist Diploma & Advanced Diploma in Facilities Management (inclusive of free bridging module – Professional Practice Project 2
  

Other qualification may apply subjected to Birmingham City University approval such as :

• Pearson BTEC Level 5 in relevant field
  
• Other equivalent qualification from recognized institutions
  
• Minimum requirement for English Language GCE C6 or IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL equivalent
