About this Course

This course is endorsed by ITE and provides students with the skills and knowledge to provide advance facial treatments, provide high frequency treatment, shape eyebrows and provide waxing for facial and body hair removal.

Course Outline

The aesthetic therapy (modular course) comprise of the following:

Advanced Facial Treatment

• Students are trained to understand the contraindications, the benefits of preparing the skin for facial treatment and the ways to handle adverse reaction to facial treatment, the different types of cleansing preparations, their uses and the various types of exfoliation (including acid and enzymatic peel) and the different methods of removing minor blemishes using comedone extractor/lancet/disposable needles and according to health and hygiene regulations.
  

Advanced Massage on Face, Head, Neck

• Students are trained to understand the different advanced massage movements and their effects on the face, the benefits of having a face, neck, decollete and shoulder massage and ways to handle adverse reaction to massage and perform advanced massage on face, neck, decollete and shoulder area.
  

Eyebrow Shaping

• Students are trained to understand the different methods to remove eyebrow hair, factors to consider when shaping eyebrow and the contraindications to eyebrow shaping.
  

High Frequency Treatment

• Students are trained to understand the effect of high frequency treatment on the skin and the contra-indications to high frequency treatment and ways to handle client’s adverse reaction, the functions, benefits, use of materials and high frequency current produced by the high frequency machine and perform high frequency treatment.
  

Provide Waxing for Hair Removal

• Students are trained to understand the anatomy and physiology of hair, the three stages of hair and the factors affecting the growth rate and quantity of hair, the three main types of wax and the procedures and techniques for waxing.

Courses will commence on every 1st and 15th of every month.

Certificate Conferring Body

Upon completion of the course, students will be awarded the NITEC in Services Module Certificate by Institute of Technical Education (ITE).

Graduates progression pathway is subject to the respective Institutions’ entry requirements at the point of application.

Foreigner’s application for jobs in Singapore is subject to the approval from the Ministry of Manpower of Singapore (MOM). MDI DOES NOT GUARANTEE any success rate of approval.

Entry Requirements

Local course participants must possess any one of the following entry requirements in order to be eligible for Nitec Examinations.

1. Complete GCE ‘N’ level or any equivalent qualifications approved by ITE.
   
2. Entry Test by ITE (Test fees are paid to ITE). Applies to course participants that do not have the above qualifications.
   

Other than the mentioned pre-requisites, the students should also have the following:

• Students must be able to read and write in English or Chinese. Other cases will be considered on a case-to-case basis.
  
• Students should be of a minimum of 18 years of age to be eligible for the courses.
  
• For foreign students, relevant passes are required.
  

Graduation Requirement

Students are required to meet the following criteria in order to graduate and obtain their relevant certificates:

• For each module, the score obtained from end-of-module assessment contributes to the final score.
  
• For the overall practical assessments, they must cover at least 75% of the competencies in each module.
  
• The pass mark of a module is 50%. Candidates are also required to pass all critical skills/criteria in the Skills Standard.
