About this Course

Construction Management is a diverse discipline focused on the delivery of projects that compose the world’s built environment. It includes the determination of project requirements, management of design, procurement of materials and management of the construction of the project within cost, time and design parameters. The construction industry is heterogeneous and enormously complex; the major classifications of construction differ markedly from one another: residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure, as well as specialties such as electrical, mechanical, architectural, structural and roofing.

Construction Management is the study of how projects are conceived, designed and built; the types of materials and methods used; techniques for estimating the cost of construction; design and contract law; oral and written communications; safety requirements; project planning, and project management.

A Diploma in Construction Management will help instil essential skills which are required to manage construction projects effectively.This programme is centred on technical subjects, quality, safety, contract and cost management, and legal studies and information technology, which are required to progress in aconstruction-related career. Thanks to the increasing number of building and infrastructure projects, the construction industry is a source of numerous job prospects and opportunities for professionals in this field, which include supervisors, project coordinators, construction managers and project managers. Students taking up this course will gain a complete understanding of construction processes and obtain the skills required to successfully manage construction projects of varying capacities.

Student who have successfully completed and graduated from the above mentioned program with at least 5 years in the execution of construction projects, can apply to BCA as a General Builder GB Class 2 Technical Controller.

Assessment  : Assignment 70% + Written Examination 30%

Entry Requirement(s)

  • Minimum ‘O’ level with credit in Maths/English/Science or ‘A’ levels with a minimum of 3 years of working experience in the related field. 
  • Candidate must be a minimum age of 23 and above
  • Singapore Government Polytechnic Diploma
  • Matured students who have obtained other qualification will be considered on the individual basis
  • All applicants final approval is subjected to Head of Academic
